A very good and tight hardcover copy. Limited to twenty five hundred copies. First Edition. Listed in Broadfoot's 5th edition, Civil War Books. Papered covered spine in paper covered boards. Spine as usual, as with all copies has tanned and rubbed. Corners are very lightly rubbed. Book is very tight without the usual cracked hinges. A few spots to front board. No ownership signatures. Corners are sharp with some rubbing. No bent corners to pages as pages are also toned as are all copies. Spine tips are fairly smooth and have no chips. Light stain running along rear hinge from the gluing process. Overall, a very decent copy of a very poorly constructed book. Book is now covered in a stiff acetate jacket to protect it. *** WE BOX AND SHIP ALL BOOKS WITH USPS TRACKING. *** WE HAVE BEEN BUYING AND SELLING USED BOOKS FOR OVER 38 YEARS. Paperback. Zustand: New. Print on Demand. This book is an engaging and detailed diary from the American Civil War, penned by an astute artillery private. The author's unique perspective on the daily trials and tribulations of soldiering in the 6th Wisconsin Battery, combined with his sharp observations on the war's broader context, offers an invaluable historical account. The diary provides a glimpse into the life of a young man thrust into the chaos of the Civil War. The author's vivid descriptions of battles, deprivations, and camaraderie paint an intimate picture of the human cost of the conflict. He also reflects on the political and social issues of the time, exploring the complexities of slavery, secession, and the struggle for national unity. Beyond its historical value, the diary offers a poignant meditation on themes of courage, loyalty, and the search for meaning amidst the horrors of war. The author's insights into the human condition, both noble and flawed, add depth to his account, making it a compelling read for anyone interested in the Civil War, American history, or the enduring legacy of armed conflict. This book is a reproduction of an important historical work, digitally reconstructed using state-of-the-art technology to preserve the original format. In rare cases, an imperfection in the original, such as a blemish or missing page, may be replicated in the book. print-on-demand item. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 9781332341641_0
