The digest magazine publication of the first article by Hubbard laying down the basic concepts which would later form the foundation of the Church of Scientology. Overshadowed are stories by Poul Anderson, Jack Vance, and part of a serial by A. E. van Vogt. Cover art by the otherwise forgotten Brush, the artist's only cover work for Astounding (or indeed any other sf magazine). Front cover is chipped and shows a mailing crease down the center; binding is solid, although cover is pulling away at base; paper is browning as is normal for half-century old pulp -- all in all a good copy.
