With frontispiece, title-page vignette, 34 plates in text, occasional modest head- & tailpieces, and index cum glossary of terms. All edges red. Half-title very sparsely spotted, a little toned & dust-marked towards outer edges, with short creases at outer corners, and with small oval stamp "D. Bourdeau Fils" just above lower edge. Frontispiece a little toned and dust- & handling-marked along outer edges, with slight loss along fore-edge outside of plate-mark. Title-page faintly dust- & handling-marked. Plate XVII with loss along fore-edge outside of plate-mark. Contents otherwise with a few light handling-marks confined to fore-edge margins, one-or-two nicked fore-edges, and occasional isolated spots. Upper edge of text-block a little dust-darkened, with some loss of red tint in vicinity of spine; a little loss of tint also towards middle of fore-edge, and at junctions between fore-edge and upper and lower edges. Contemporary full polished mottled calf. Smooth spine with gilt rules, modest gilt decorations, and gilt abbreviated title on maroon leather label. Boards with gilt decorated edges. Original marbled endpapers. Spine with a number of closed surface cracks, with a little loss at head, and single tiny hole adjacent to rear hinge just above foot. Board edges lightly rubbed, with loss of gilt; some light wear at outer corners. Both front and rear endpapers with a few holes and short splits along hinges; hinges still secure. Front pastedown with postage-stamp-size label ("Livres de Chasse Anciens et Modernes / Emile Noury / 62 Rue des Ecoles 62 / Paris") at upper outer corner, and fine circular engraved bookplate ("Ex Libris Schwerdtil") at centre featuring three finely detailed hunting scenes above coat-of-arms - contrasting with rather kitsch recent English owner's pictorial bookplate (after a grotesque by Aubrey Beardsley) on flyleaf opposite.
