The book is profusely illustrated with dozens of black & white photographs and a large fold-out map of the "Trans-Alaskan Military Road" at the back. The book is a report of the "construction work on the trans-Alaskan military road and explorations in the Chettyna Valley during the season of 1899, which embraces the operations of the expedition under the command of Captain Abercrombie."
