132 pages. Very few of these Methuen sixpenny Dumas seem to have survived. This is the first appearance in English of Amaury, as noted on title page. c. 1903. Originally in paper wraps; a former owner has carefully cut out the pictorial front cover and pasted this on to green cloth-covered boards and bound the volume very well, thus contributing to a remarkable survival. Front pastedown shows Methuen scheme of Alexandre Dumas novels; editor's introduction appears to verso of title page. No ads bound in. Text is complete. Offsetting and former owner's name to title page, and rusted staples, as seen. Else clean and unmarked. Binding is entirely secure. Cover by Frank Adams. As announced in this copy of Amaury: "Messers. Methuen have commenced the publication of a new English translation of all the novels of Dumas. This series will be practically complete, and only a few of the novels, not agreeable to English and American tastes, will be omitted. . Each novel will be newly translated by Mr. Alfred Allinston.".
