These rare issues report on Bobby Jones in his heyday, the late twenties, leading up to his glorious Grand Slam year of 1930. The July cover is an artist's rendition of Jones in action (all six covers are full color artist paintings), contents with Tommy Armour's Open victory at Oakmont, with another article about the course, Dr. Tweddell wins UK Amateur with article by Bernard Darwin (Dr. Tweddell would later captain the British Walker Cup Team, facing US captain Bobby Jones and his squad). The September issue contains "The Marvel of Walter Travis", and "Bobby Jones' Conquest of St. Andrews", and perhaps most importantly, Jones' autobiography "Down the Fairway" is hot off the press and reviewed by Innis Brown. October issue covers Jones' victory in the US Amateur at Minikahada (previewed in the August issue) with two articles and a full-page Gene Mack drawing "Cyclone" after Jones decimated the field in Minneapolis with his extraordinary play. November has Walter Hagen on the cover and December celebrates Hagen's 4th PGA Championship in a row at Dallas.
