Hurley accompanied both Mawson's Australasian Antarctic Expedition (1911-14) and Shackleton's Imperial Transantarctic Expedition (1914-17), during which time he took some of the most memorable Antarctic photographs of the era. The book has become scarce. Provenance: Brian Birley Roberst was a British polar researcher, ornithologist and instrumental in the development of the Scott Polar Research Institute.
