The book has brown covers with dark blue decorations and lettering. It appears the back cover got wet at some point and the coloring is lost at the top half of the back boards. There is a gift inscription on the front free end paper, and a child's hand written name on the front paste down. The book has a frontispiece and an illustration for each story that is presented. This approximately 6 1/4 by 7 1/4 inch book has 111 pages, including a section for questions, suggestions for teachers, and a section for pronouncing the words in the text of the story. The initials in the design for both the front and back cover are TBH. While the back gutter is not broken, there is a bit of play to the back cover.
