Beschreibung
Oblong octavo. Unpaginated. [70]pp. Original printed wrappers, with Asbach "Uralt"'s logo in red and black on front cover. Chromolithographic frontispiece depicting three bottles of various brandy manufactured by the company. Founded in 1892 by Hugo Asbach, "Asbach Uralt" is a renown German brandy company located in the city of Rüdesheim am Rhein. The Treaty of Versailles having decreed that the word Cognac could only be used for French products, Hugo Asbach had to coin the term Weinbrand for his brandy (as seen in this booklet). This work contains a b/w illustration depicting an aerial view of the distilleries with the vineyards of Rüdesheim in the background, and 30 b/w photographs reproduced in photogravure showing the management buildings, the main entrance, the distillation plant, the various storage rooms, and work floors (including the bottling department, the packing room, the dispatch hall, the manufacture of brandy chocolates, etc.). Each of the 30 photogravures faces its captioned page. Moderate and sporadic creasing and soiling to wrappers. Text and captions in German, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and Dutch. Wrappers in overall good, interior in very good condition. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 39926
