Trueta (1897-1977) was born and trained in Spain (Catalan), then gained experience in the Spanish Civil War (1936-1939), considered the prelude to WWII. Truetta is particularly known for his contributions regarding rx of war injuries (GM 4435.1, 5632), osteomyelitis, and circulation of bone (fx healing, arthritis, Perthes) and kidney (related to crush syndrome; GM 1245).
