Fine in a Fair Dust Jacket. The Text Block is clean, white, tight, straight and square with black topstain, and no markings of any kind. The Binding is black quarter cloth to blue boards, with colophon in black to front board, and bright gilt title, etc., to spine, all corners square and sharp with light wear at tips, and map of London endpapers, unmarked except for the book plate of historian, biographer and author Leo T. Molloy on the front endpaper. The pictorial Dust Jacket has a 1 1/2" x 2 1/2" curved chip at the bottom of the spine and rear panel, and shows extensive wear at folds, but has the original price ($5.00) intact on the front flap. See photos. xxix+370 pages. 6 1/2" x 9 1/2". This was the very first publication in The Yale Edition of the Private Papers of James Boswell, which eventually reached 14 volumes of journals, plus 9 volumes of correspondence, plus associated volumes. This volume is the from Boswell's first journals on leaving home and settling in London. Preface by Christopher Morley, Introduction by Frederick A.
