Paul Dupon (CI.). - 1.1. 1924.', as called for]. ***Winner of the Grand Prix du Roman de L'Academie Francaise 1923. ***Please note that this is in the French language. ***Very good in quarter brown leather over marbled boards, with five gilt-bordered compartments and four raised gilt-ruled bands to brown leather spine. Top edge of text-block gilt. Fore-edge and bottom edge of text-block untrimmed (rough-cut, as called for). Marbled front and rear free endpapers and pastedowns. Integral green silk reading ribbon. Edges of boards slightly rubbed. Head and tail of spine slightly rubbed. Paper slightly browned. No foxing. Pages clean. Spine tight. No inscriptions. ***188mm x 124mm. 424 pages. ***The novel is set in the fenland west of Nantes, known as Brière, in which the traditional livelihood of peat-cutting is becoming unsustainable as the peat runs out.
