A smart, first edition copy of 'Bath, Old and New' by Robert Edward Myhill Peach. This book is intended as a guide and historical account of Bath, including the Abbey, Athenaeum, Bathwick, St Catherine's Chapel, Walcot, the Baths, the Pump-Room, and more. Containing eight full page illustrations, but lacking the map originally included in the book. Containing the bookplate and insignia of the previous owner to the front pastedown: 'Esse Quam Videri, Robert Washington Oates'. Containing a previous owner's inscription to the front free-endpaper, dated 'Bath, 1914'. In full red cloth binding. Externally, smart with some shelf wear. Cloth binding has faded, especially to the spine. Some marks to the boards and book is slightly cocked. Previous owner's bookplate to the front pastedown and another previous owner's pencil inscription to the front free-endpaper. Internally, front hinge weak but remaining. Internally, binding loosening in places, and front free-endpaper is hanging loose. Pages contain a few spots to the first few pages, rear pastedown, and fore-edge, but otherwise bright and clean.
