Dark blue cloth with silver titles & decoration, 7 3/4 x 9 inches, light shelf-wear and small blotches to the binding, yet with complete silver lettering on both spine & front. 1894 Christmas inscription & 1987 small ink date stamp to ffep. The binding had started to separate from the front inside hinge, and we repasted the backstrip down using neutral pH binding adhesive. Front end paper hinge appears open, but nothing is loose. (see pics). x., 329 clean pp. Pleasingly illustrated with chapter head & tail pieces and many full-page b/w plates. Willis John Abbot (1863-1934), American journalist and historical writer who concentrated on producing books of military history. His journalism career including editorships at the Chicago Times, the New York Journal, the New York American, and The Christian Science Monitor.
