Although minister and school master John Collingwood Bruce primarily published historical works about the North East and Hadrian's Wall, this work was inspired by a trip to Normandy. As well as reproductions of the tapestry, the work chronicles the events it portrays. In the publisher's original binding, with quarter-bound leather over hard boards. Externally, a little worn. Rubbed to both boards. A little rubbed at the spine, and bumped to the head of the spine with a small closed tear in the leather. Rather worn at the extremities. Internally, firmly bound.
