He only lived 41 years but in this time he worked on the canal systems of Derby, Nottingham and Nutbrook in the East Midlands, the Ashton and Peak Forest Canal in the North West including the masterpiece Marple Aquduct, the Huddersfield Canal and the Brecknock & Abergavenny Canal in South Wales.
