Soft Cover. Zustand: Good+ binding. Octavo. x, 246 pp. First edition, signed and inscribed by Rexroth. As issued, in wrapper. Covers are generally scuffed; first few leaves have creases at the bottom corners and are trimmed just short of the textblock edge, difficult to assess if this was a binding error or an early owner; what looks to be an intake stamp on the title page otherwise contents are clean. A nice copy of an uncommon collection. This copy copy inscribed to D. H. Lawrence scholar, Keith Cushman. Hartzell 320. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 6562

Hardcover. Zustand: Very Good. Zustand des Schutzumschlags: Very Good. 1st Edition. New Directions, New York. 1958. 246 pages including index. First edition, first printing. Book is tight. Binding and hinges are sound. Blue cloth panels are bright and clean. Pages and endpapers are bright. Minor, light shelf-rubbing at tips. Uncommon original DJ with $3.75 price intact on flap. DJ shows minor, light handling and rubbing. A couple of tiny, shallow edge chips. The book's lone flaw is light annotation in the margins, and some passages underlined in ink. A nice copy with annotation. Overall, an uncommon hardcover in DJ, of the man TIME magazine coined as Father of the Beats. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 003543

First edition. 8vo, 246 pp, bound in blue cloth. Illustrated dust jacket designed by Donn Devita. Association copy, inscribed by Rexroth at the first blank in the year of publication to Charles Richards: "Happy Birthday Dear Charles. Kenneth Oct '59." A good association - Charles Richards and and his wife Janet were friends of Rexroth, and an important part of the California jazz scene. Janet chronicled some of this milieu in her underappreciated memoir Common Soldiers. This collection includes Rexroth's essay "Some Thoughts on Jazz as Music, as Revolt, as Mystique." Near fine, with some light fading to extremities of cloth, a couple small stains, and a touch of dustiness to the edges of the text block, in a very good dust jacket lightly chipped and nicked at extremities with a couple small closed tears.
