This scarce book is an American Early Pirated Edition. Black leather over spine and all corners, hand marbled paper over boards. Clear mylar protective wrap over all. Spine has rubbing and wear at foot, head remains quite good. All four corners are bumped and showing board, mostly on lower corners. Paper has worn from the bottom edges of the boards. There are four insect tunnels located on the lower edge of the textblock, they do not reach far enough to damage the text. Owner's name neatly inked {twice} on front paste-down endpaper, fep has seperated. Front gutter has parted showing the three main binding cords, but these remain tight. There is some possible water spill marks on the edges of these endpapers and early signatures. The verso of the Frontispiece sheet has some light penciled mathematical figures. Interior text has yellowed with age and some light foxing. Seven black and white illustration plates including Frontis. 313 pages of text. The spill damage markings reappear near the end of the text.
