Translated from the French by Alexander Teixeira de Matos. Book is tight. Binding and hinges are strong and sound. Endpapers show light toning and a couple of faint instances of foxing. Minor shelf-rubbing along edges. Uncommon original DJ shows soiling with a couple of small edge chips. This book is considered to be the title that sealed the deal for Maurice Maeterlinck winning the Nobel Prize for literature, in 1911. And this title being his most popular, and the basis for six different film adaptations, on the centennial of The Blue Bird's publication, a blue bird motif was used on a Belgian 50 Euro coin commemorating the Nobel laureate, Maurice Maeterlinck.
