This cartoonist and illustrator is certainly best known for his book "Harold and the Purple Crayon" (1955), and perhaps for the "Barnaby" strip, but all his kid's books are huge fun. A small book (6.5" x 5"), this cute little thing is a first edition and it's an ex-library copy. There's a pocket on rear endpaper, a couple of small rubber stamps, and old tape marks on the endpapers and boards from where the old plastic cover (now long gone) was taped to the book. Also, the front endpaper and title page are a little crinkled. The textblock itself is excellent - clean and unmarked. The dust jacket is very good. There's a label at the base of the spine, a closed split about 1.5" long on rear panel, and it looks to have been clipped and re-priced ($2.47) by the publisher.
