Beschreibung
Original book sculpture riffing on the title GOD OF LOVE, transforming the codex into a setting for two romantic figures made of found materials. Bruno Pasquier-Desvignes defies classification. THE NEW YORK TIMES calls him "part tinkerer and part storyteller, a cross between Alexander Calder and Jean Tinguely"; filmmaker James Ivory compares him to Picasso, noting his ability to "pick up any old thing lying around, see its possibilities for transformation and then turn it into a new and enchanting thing" (RURAL INTELLIGENCE). Pasquier-Desvignes's book sculptures highlight his ingenuity, creativity, and humor, as he toys with the idea of a codex as a container. The book that Pasquier-Desvignes chose for his sculpture of a romantic couple made of champagne foil and corn husk is THE GOD OF LOVE, by Justin Huntly McCarthy. The binding's classic and classy motif compliments Pasquier-Desvignes's use of cast-offs from a luxury item to communicate his narrative. 7.5'' x 5''. Original blue cloth boards. Bookblock fused with glue, with rectangular recess cut into center. A mirror and two figures made of champagne bottle foil mounted in recess. Binding with light edgewear and rubbing. Bookblock with mild foxing. Figures clean. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 45494
