Ballantine Books #80 is the true first edition of "Brain Wave", Poul Anderson's first adult science fiction novel (and his third overall.) It features outstanding wraparound cover art by Richard Powers. This spectacular, collectible copy is unread -- no reading creases, and tight "snap" to front and back covers -- and it is in near fine condition, marred only by a very light bump on the bottom front corner. Binding is tight and square. Covers are bright (no fading and no age toning), sharp cornered and unmarked, with a shallow crease across the bumped corner, otherwise unworn. Pages are unmarked and unworn, with a trace of age toning in the margins. As with all Space Age Book purchases, I will ship this book in a moisture proof zip-loc bag, padded in bubble wrap, inside a sturdy box to assure it reaches its proud new owner in the same condition as my description. Bibliographic note: Ballantine Books often published hardcover and paperback first editions at the same time, and apparently intended to do so with this book since it has their standard statement on the back cover, "A hardbound edition of this book is available ?."
