Beschreibung
A first edition of John Walcot's satirical poem. A first edition of John Walcot's satirical poem staged as a conversation between brothers Peter and Tom. John Walcot was an English satirist who wrote under the pseudonym Peter Pindar. After capturing the attention of the Royal academy, Walcott continued to rise in the art world, and became a patron of the painter Richard Morton Paye. As is evident in the present volume, the King and Queen were often the objects of Walcot's satirical remarks. Prior owner's ink inscription to the title page, 'Milp Papon'. With a page of publisher's adverts to the rear. Disbound. Externally, generally smart, with the majority of calf to the spine remaining. Internally, firmly bound. Aside from the title page and the page of adverts to the rear, pages are generally bright and clean. Good. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 860N8
