Brochure represents the collective work of a group of Leipzig citizens and survivors of the concentration camp Buchenwald. Detailed description of the construction of Buchenwald by prisoners, including excesses like the construction of a Falcon enclosure for the private use of an officer. A chapter surveying the inmates of Buchenwald, criminals according to SS propaganda, provides detailed charts of new arrivals and deceased and points out that, particularly in the early years, it was occupied by Hitler opponents, members of the Communist and Social Democratic parties as well as the Unions and other worker organizations. Chapters on the administration of and corruption in the camp, the story and text of the Buchenwald Song, Dr. Eisele as well as chapters on abhorrent events like the 13th of May, 1938, a black day in the history of Buchenwald, or the murder of 2,000 Polish inmates, among other. Illustrated with b/w photographs of the camp, some maps and construction drawings. Text in German. Wraps with very light wear along edges and some foxing at front corners. Book block age-toned.
