Mathews was from Calhoun, in Gordon County Georgia. He served local churches in north Georgia before moving to Seattle where he became a nationally prominent Presbyterian clergyman. This copy is from the library of Stewar M. Robinson and has his ownership signature on the ffep. Robinson was a Presbyterian clergyman and a collector of Colonial american sermons.
