6 inches x 8 3/4 in., 49 pp., including a checklist of Newton's publications, including introductions to books, and Newtoniana. Reproduces Newton's Temple Bar, and Hobby Horse bookplates; bust, caricature, photos of Newton and his libraries; Reynolds' portrait of Samuel Johnson. Black cloth spine with gilt-lettered title, marbled paper over boards, with a printed, gray paper title label on the front cover; glassine paper wraparound dustjacket; in a gray paper-covered box, with a printed title label on the front cover, and a blue silk pull, attached to the inside of the box. Light, age-related tanning to the inside of the box, light rubbing, tanning to the outer edges of the box. A very fine copy. A copy that belonged to our founder, Peter Keisogloff (1900-95), who has added a date in pencil: 10-17-28, on the front endpaper. Author's Note: "It is only fair to say in explanation of the title of this little book that Mr. Newton chose it for himself upon the occasion of his selling, some years ago, some duplicate volumes from his library. His "busting" could not have been very serious, however, or he quickly recovered therefrom, for shortly after he paid the highest price ever recorded for a First Folio of Shakespeare.".
