BOOK DESCRIPTION: Tall 8vo, xiii, 283 pgs, index, 25 full-page photogravures with titled tissue guards, text illustrations from author's photographs, top edge gilt. First edition with title page dated 1896. Original decorative blue cloth binding with gilt decoration of a camp, lake and mountains, and with gilt titled cover and spine. CONDITION DESCRIPTION: Front cover is rubbed, edges faded, discoloration on lower front cover edge. Interior hinges are cracked, inked name of former owner on front free endpaper, title page reattached; else very clean. CONTENTS DESCRIPTION: Nice copy of the scarce first edition of a Canadian Rocky Mountain classic. It is a beautiful production with the great photogravures, and with authoritative information on this British Columbia - Alberta border mountain region. Some of the most beautiful scenery in North America. The author was an original member of the Canadian Alpine Club and Mount Wilcox in Jasper National Park is named in recognition of his exploration of the area.
