The original edition, published in monochrome by Country Life in 1939, is virtually unprocurable as explained on the front flap of the jacket of the present edition, "the original edition of this book was published early in the war but destroyed by enemy action. The artist has coloured the plates for this edition". Original beige cloth boards, very slightly foxed, with green title lettering to the front. With the excellent pictorial dust-jacket, unclipped. A superb copy with the original jacket in exceptional condition and no old signatures, just some spots of foxing to rear pastedown page.
