First edition thus, with illustrations by Ardizzone, of this Dickens-themed gift book that begins with reminiscences by Charles Dickens' granddaughter. Quite charming. Nice copies in dust jackets are not easy to find. This copy was once in the inventory of Aleph-Bet Books, and the description uses their images; if you would like further photos of the book, please contactus. 8.5'' x 6.25''. Original pictorial cloth. Endpapers foxed. In original lightly rubbed, frayed, and price clipped jacket. Most of the pages are divided in thirds. One page presents quotations from various works appropriate for each day of the year. Blank pages opposite are for the owner to enter names of friends and relatives on their birthdays.
