Paper-backed pink cloth wrappers with titles and imprint printed within a wood-engraved compartment to upper wrapper with the monogram "JC" for Joseph Cundall, and publisher's advertisements to lower wrapper, with minor soiling and fraying to fore edge of upper wrapper for what is a rather nice copy of the book. [24] pp. Printed entirely on linen, this alphabet book is populated with characters straight out of fairy tales and nursery rhymes, pairing each letter with a short verse starring one of the above mentioned characters, e.g., "A is King Arthur, who ruled o'er the land. B is BO-PEEP, with a crook in her hand;" each letter and verse illustrated with a wood-engraving by Thomas Bolton after T. R. Macquoid, within a floriated border and above the letterpress text; a few pages with light spotting and minor fore edge fraying. The condition of the book is VERY GOOD. RARE.
