First edition 1944 with 'Book Production War Economy' shield to copyright page, very good clean firm interior for the age, no usage marks, crayoning or inscriptions, just some very faint age specks to e/papers and prelims, ten excellent black and white illustrated plates by Pauline Baynes, dulled to top page block, very good plus to near fine bright clean boards, just a tiny fade mark to top spine tip, all tight and firm; d/jacket has average usage signs, some faint shelf wear soiling to rear edge, small loss to top spine tip, approx 3 small edge tears and tiny nicks to corners/lower spine but with bright frontage and no large tears or loss - good-plus overall for the publish date, not price-clipped.
