First edition with Arthur Rackham illustrations. Signed limited edition. Original paper covered boards with titles in gilt to the spine and upper board, as well as an illustration in gilt to the upper board. Illustrated endpapers. Beautifully illustrated with 24 mounted colour plates by Arthur Rackham, protected by lettered tissue guards, as well as further black and white in-text drawings. A very good copy, the binding square and firm, the corners a little bumped and worn, the boards and spine with dustiness, the edges of the upper board toned. The contents, page 35 having a very short closed tear to the margin, are clean and bright throughout and without previous owners' inscriptions or stamps. Number 225 of 550 copies signed by Arthur Rackham in black ink on the limitation page. Further details and images for any of the items listed are available on request. Decorated endpapers. xviii, 76pp., illustrated with 24 tipped-in colour plates (including frontispiece), all with captioned tissue-guards, 8 full page b/w drawings and many b/w vignettes, head and tail pieces throughout. Small ink gift inscription, dated 1929, to half title. Occasional light foxing, slightly heavier to prelims. A couple of tiny chips to top edges of colour plates IX and XXIV (please see photo) and faint crease to lower corner of colour plate XIII. Otherwise all plates in lovely clean, bright condition. Slight rubbing and wear to spine edges and a couple of very faint marks to boards. Overall a VERY GOOD COPY.
