Thick 8vo.; 1/2 calf over paper-covered boards; xxxix, [1],2-1112 pages; with the Farmyard colored wood-engraved frontispiece, additional chromolithographed title-page, 12 chromolithographed plates, and numerous wood-engraved in-text illustrations throughout; with the first line of errata with page 57 referred to; Bouverie St. address to additional title, and Strand address to the letterpress title.~~The front board has been discreetly reattached as has the morocco label which was in pieces.~~The First Edition in book format of "Mrs. Beeton", a household name in Victorian times (and into the present). Sellotape marks on back pastedown, tipped in newspaper cutting, (Evening News, Dec. 31st 1932) re Mrs Beeton on front endpapers. some text pages have light spotting, binding is tight, page edges have spotting. Some light marginal staining, mainly on top right corners. Small edge tears on title & half-title pages. A little surface damage to paper on some pages in top fore margin due to damp at some point, though the book is nice and dry now. The Colour section of the illustrations are in nice, clean condition, colours bright. Book weighs 2.3 Kilos so Shipping outside UK will be extra.
