FOREWORD To those who live near marshlands and waterways the fall and spring fights of ducks are as current topics of conversation as the weather, while to outdoor men confined in city offices these swift-flying birds give treasured memories of satisfying days afield. Always it is a stirring sight to see long lines of Canvasback flying, to watch bands of Sprig and Teal swinging over decoys, or to jump Greenhead and Gray Mallards from the cover of rush-grown sloughs and marshes. Hundreds of thousands of hunters hold these waterfowl to be the most attractive of our game-birds, but to most such incidents, coupled with the accompanying shooting, constitute the principal stock of knowledge of our wild ducks. Back of the fall and winter gatherings of these wary birds there lies a complicated cycle of events that constitutes the most important part of their lives- the long flight to their northern breeding grounds, the spring and summer mating and nesting, the hatching of eggs, and the growth of the young that in fall add to the flocks that furnish our shooting. Until recently there has been information on these summer activities only in general terms. The book you see in the images is the actual book we have for sale. Why pay more? When you buy this book from us, you are helping to support a small brick and mortar family owned store. We have been curating our collection for three generations and currently have over 250,000 volumes in stock. Please feel free to call for more stock. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 025143
