Beschreibung
1924. First edition. viii, 296pp. plus an 8 page catalogue. Patrick MacGill (1889-1963) was an Irish journalist, poet and novelist, known as "The Navvy Poet" because he had worked as a navvy before he began writing. He is proibably best known for his semi-autobiographical novel 'Children of the Dead End'. This book is one of his novels that works through brotherly love towards the salvation of the world. It is the Christ idea worked out in a modern town, with a modern setting and modern men and women. The book is bound in the original green cloth covered boards with black titling on the spine and black titling with a black illustration on the front board. The case of the book is in very good condition with some shelf wear and light soiling on the boards. The spine is slightly faded and the spine ends are lightly bumped. The contents are tight and clean with partial offsetting to the free endpapers and a name has been written on the front fixed endpaper. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers gLitMacGill01
