Samuel Cary is held prisoner briefly in Guadaloupe (1797) after capture by a privateer; a slave insurrection in Grenada in 1794 causes losses to the family. A chatty correspondence, full of local Boston gossip, as well as news from the West Indies. A very good copy in cloth-backed gray boards, with printed spine label. light soil to covers, else fine.
