Beschreibung
Charles Hornby's very scarce complete four part argument against the Whig party, warning against the threat they posed to the monarchy and country. Consisting of:The 1712 third edition of Part I, ESTC Citation No. T26514. Lacking the original half title. The 1713 third edition of Part II, ESTC Citation No. T27310, retaining original half title. The 1712 second edition of part III,ESTC Citation No. T27311, retaining original half title. The 1712 first edition of part IV, ESTC Citation No. T26517, retaining original half title, and with final advertisement leaf.Published during the reign of Queen Anne, Hornby's pamphlets warn against the Protestant supporting Whig party, who he saw as a threat to the monarchy, and the stability of the country as a whole. Hornby - a Tory politician himself - argued in these pamphlets that the Whigs were promoting dangerous and radical ideas that would lead to chaos and rebellion. With contemporary ink inscriptions to head of part I title page, and with the odd pencil marginal notation throughout. An exceptionally scarce insight into English politics in the early eighteenth century. Rebacked, in a full calf binding with original boards restored. Endpapers renewed. Externally, very smart. Internally, firmly bound. Inscription to part I title page. Pages age toned due to paper type, but generally clean, with the odd marginal pencil notation. Very Good. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 854F2
