Small volume containing two sea stories - the title story and 'The Mystery of the S.S. Aracluta. illustrated boards with a picture of a ship in a stormy sea on the front panel. This illustration by Edward Wigfull is repeated in monochrome on the frontispiece. Heavy rubbing to the edges of the boards with the surface of the spine peeling in a number of places around the edges and one inch tears at the top and bottom next to the rear panel. Some surface blistering to the rear panel. Browning to the page edges. Presentation copy from Bigton School in Shetland with my father's name to the front free endpaper. There is browning to the title page with a small surface tear to the bottom right corner. There are a few light stains here and there through the book but the pages are generally clean and unmarked. No jacket. Published in The Beacon Library series. Presumed to be a first edition of this collection from the mid 1930s. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 015826
