Tall 32mo. 3.5 x 5.875 in. 655, [1], [9 proper of the U.S.A.] pp. Full black cloth, titled in gilt on spine, personalized with previous owner's name in gilt on upper cover, 'H. Eiband Wilhusen'; presented in publisher's collapsible cloth slipcase. Lavishly illustrated by the illustrious religious artist René de Cramer (1876-1951) with 300 reproductions of black & white drawings, each tinted with a single color according to the color of liturgical ornaments of a particular feast, e.g. green, purple, white (for yellow) etc. Title page printed in red & black. Although handmissals for children were not uncommon, this missal, a true daily Roman missal, adapted the text of each proper (introit, epistle, collect, etc.) to a child's level without abridging its essence: no other child's missal thus succeeded. Rare. Very good in very good slipcase. Lightly worn, with moderate edgewear to corners & especially to foot of spine; slipcase moderately edgeworn with some soiling yet remains sound. 1934 inscription to preliminary blank, 'With love from Grandpa & Grandma'.
