256 pages. A collection of ten short golfing stories. All but one story is narrated by "the Oldest Member", a Wodehouse favorite. The book was later published in the US in 1924 under the title Golf Without Tears. There are some slight differences between the two editions regarding the names of places and golfers, the later released book was adapted to suit its publication in New York. This is a first UK edition dated MCMXXII on the title page, first impression with the six other Wodehouse titles listed on the verso of the half-title. Cover clean with light rubbing to the upper spine. Inner hinges intact, former owner name inked over on ffep, no bookplate. Page 45 has one stain, otherwise pages are clean, without foxing, staining, marginalia, underlining, creases or tears. Later dust jacket with the price of 2 shillings 5 pence on the spine. White background lightly soiled, several areas of loss along the edges, primarily the lower spine section, not affecting the beautiful color illustration of a female golfer on the front panel.
