"With an Introduction by George Edward Woodberry and a Biographical Note by Margaret Lavington". Near Fine condition. No Dust Jacket. The Text Block is clean, intact, off-white, tight, straight and square, with frontispiece photograph of the author with protective tissue, green topstain, deckled fore-edges and no markings of any kind, other than a prior owner's name and date (February 1919) on the front endpaper. The Binding is full black cloth showing some wear to the front board, with paste-on title to front board, darkened paste-on title, etc., to spine, top corners square, bottom corners slightly bumped. No Dust Jacket. See photos. 168 pages. 5 1/4" x 7 3/4". Rupert Brooke, one of the "War Poets" of World War 1, joined the U.K.'s Royal Navy in September, 1914 and died in the Aegean on April 23, 1915, taking part in the British Mediterranean Expeditionary Force. The collection includes his most famous poem, "The Soldier" which begins "If I should die, think only this of me: / That there's some corner of a foreign field / That is forever England.".
