Address label on the verso of the front endpage with a gift inscription on the half-title. Photo illustrated endpages, and 59 modern and historical photographs each with a caption. The Mylar protected dust jacket is price-clipped, light wear tiny corner rubs. Not an exhaustive study the book is a solid introduction to the gold and silver rushes during the 19th century. Not found in Adams Six-Guns even though there is mention of western outlaws. During the Great Depression of the 1930s thousands of writers were hired by the Works Project Administration to create hundreds of guidebooks on all of the states in the U.S. These volumes that were produced became known as the American Guide Series.
