Beschreibung
A scarce first edition of Philip Francis' play 'Constantine', a short lived tragedy which was produced at covent garden and expired on the fourth night in theatre. Philip Francis (1708? 1773) was an Anglo-Irish clergyman and writer. Francis is best remembered for his translation of 'Horace', which was reported to have been given a complimentary review by Samuel Johnson. In a rebound half cloth binding with marbled boards. Externally, excellent with just a few marks. Internally, age toned and lightly foxed throughout. Very Good. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers GEN18-E-2
