Beschreibung
Quarto. (x) 338pp. Blue cloth boards with gilt-stamped illustrations and lettering on the front cover and spine. Top edge yellow. Pages uncut. Illustrated frontispiece. This is the first American edition of Gaze's delightfully illustrated children's fantasy novel. The book tells a fantasy adventure story about the experiences of a little girl when she goes to sleep. The book includes a total of 31 whimsical illustrations by the author, including 12 color plates (including the frontispiece) and the rest in-text in b/w. Includes an index of all illustrations following the table of contents. Binding with some scratches and abrasions to the covers and spine. Back cover with a small water stain. Light bumping and rubbing to extremities. Interior with some sporadic minor smudges. Some small tears to the edges of a few pages, probably as a result of certain unopened pages being separated improperly. Starting at p.2 and 306. Book block tight overall. Binding in good, interior in very good- condition overall. Harold Gaze (1884-1963) was a New Zealnd-born children's author, illustrator and artist. He was among the most popular children's fantasy authors (fairy-tales) in Australia, and lived a large portion of his life in Southern California. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 43362
