It is the first country club in America, thus the plain name. Founded in 1882, golf arrived at the club in 1892, four years after the St. Andrew's Golf Club in Yonkers was established. This is an impressive publication recalling the first 50 years of a club whose membership is to this day largely local. Nice copy bound in original green cloth, 100% gilt present on the lettering, club emblem (squirrel), and top page edges. This copy has very little sign of use, possibly never read, as several pages remain uncut. No former owner name or bookplate, small area of color variation on lower rear cover, slight offset from illustrations to adjacent page and tissue paper guard, else unmarked throughout.
