An exceptionally well preserved copy of the scarce first edition, first issue. The very attractive, original, pictorial cloth, hardback binding is in very good+ condition, still bright and only slightly faded to the spine. All outer and inner hinges tight and unbroken. Text in very good, tight, clean condition, with hardly any foxing. Light age-browning of the blank end papers. Short 1901 inscription on second front free blank end paper. 8 plates by W. Boucher, including the tissue-guarded frontispiece. 416 pages. See photographs of this actual book attached, showing the front, back, spine, top edge and frontispiece-title.
