Beschreibung
443 p. "An assistant surgeon with the Scots Fusilier Guards in the 1st Division and landing at Kalamita Bay on 14 September 1854, Robinson (1826-1901) submitted his diaries for publication in 1855 while still on active service before Sevastopol. In April 1855 he was called to British Headquarters at Balaklava, where he recorded life in the camp and in the town. Following the fall of Sevastopol, Robinson visited the town and the Redan fortress and journeyed through the Crimean countryside" (Cross, Anthony: In the Land of the Romanovs, p.202). Octavo. Original green cloth binding, with gilt titles. Lacking the frontispiece portrait of the Duke of Cambridge. Bookseller's ink stamp to the front pastedown. The top edge is dust stained and the top corners bumped. Some general shelfwear to the boards; else about very good. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 63352
