Beschreibung
A lovely first edition copy of Dick Francis's 'The Danger', complete with original unclipped dustwrapper. Richard Stanley Francis was a British crime writer and former full-time jump-jockey, winning over 350 races and becoming champion jockey of the British National Hunt. He came to further prominence in 1956 as jockey to The Queen Mother Queen Elizabeth, riding her horse Devon Loch. However, when Francis retired from the turf he became a journalist and incredibly popular novelist, with more than forty of his novels became international best-sellers. In keeping with Francis' career as a steeplechase jockey, this text although based in the crime genre incorporates the horse racing industry, with the story revolving around the kidnapping of a female jockey. Complete with original unclipped dustwrapper, designed by the accomplished photographer, broadcaster and author Chris Yates. Despite designing the majority of Dick Francis's book covers, Yates is most well known as an angler, and is a former holder of the record for the heaviest-recorded British carp, a 51.5 lb specimen captured from Redmire pool in 1980. In a cloth binding complete with original unclipped dustwrapper. Externally, lovely. Slightly bumped to head and tail of spine. Bookseller's label tipped in to rear pastedown. Internally firmly bound. Pages bright and clean throughout. Dustwrapper, very smart. Slightly bumped to head and tail of wrap. Tidemark to lower extremity of verso, not visible to recto of wrap. Fine. Bestandsnummer des Verkäufers 614M10
