Edition originale de cet ouvrage remarquable sur les fossiles du Salève. Perceval de Loriol (1828-1908), paléontologue et stratigraphe suisse, a travaillé pendant 40 ans au Muséum d'histoire naturelle de Genève et est l'un des cofondateur de la Société Paléontologique Suisse. Le Salève est particulièrement riche en fossiles. On dénombre ainsi plus de 700 espèces d'invertébrés dans l'intervalle du Jurassique supérieur au Quaternaire, dont l'étude est loin d'être achevée. Perceval de Loriol (1828-1908) was a Swiss palaeontologist and stratigrapher, who worked during fourty years at the Natural History Museum of Geneva. He was one of the founders of the Schweizerische Paläontologische Gesellschaft. The Salève is particularly rich in fossils. There are more than 700 species of invertebrates in the interval from the Upper Jurassic to the Quaternary, the study of which is far from being completed.
