Pale gray paper covers with black ink illustration and titles and charcoal tape spine. Boards show some smudges, edgewear. Corners are sharp. See photos. Spine is sunned, with softened ends. Binding is secure. End papers/ pastedowns show little sign of age or wear. Interior exhibits minimal signs of age and wear. Inside pages are free of writing and intentional marks.** PS2024.1010** 72 pages. 4 3/4 x 7 3/8 inches** A very good copy of one of four books printed in the Deseret alphabet, a phonetic alphabet developed under the direction of Brigham Young in the mid-19th century. This book is one of two school primers printed; also printed were the full Book of Mormon and a first portion of it, intended as a third school reader.** Printed with fonts specially created for the purpose. Hardcover. Zustand: Poor - Cash. Very Heavy wear to cover, corners and edges, exposes the boards. Title fading on the front cover, title was done in gold gilt. Has soiling on the front cover, fading to the edges, rubbing and fraying to spine. Has soiling to cover and pages, with creases. There is a crack on the inside of front cover, showing the webbing on the top edge. FFEP has been torn out, leaving a remnant. There is a tear on the bottom of the title page near the spine. Soiling to pages and some notations in the margins. Pages 107 & 108 have been ripped out, and only half of page 109 remains. Page 73-74 has a tear on the bottom corner. Pages 75-86 have chipping to the pages, some pages are coming loose from the spine, pages 83-84 has a tear on the bottom part of the page.
